Thanks to all for a memorable week on the Frick Park clay!
To the hosting families, very special thanks for welcoming all visiting players from Madrid, Spain, into your homes and lives. These players will now take your kindness and hospitality wherever they go. To all tournament players, thanks for your efforts, your sportsmanship - you will leave lasting marks on the clay, and new friendships well beyond the courts. To all parents, thanks for support for the tournament and all the players, and especially for helping us promote and encourage junior tennis at Frick Park as a community effort that embraces and celebrates diversity and now reaches out to the world. On behalf of Frick Park players and volunteers, Jose

Notes
2014 is the sixth year for this junior tournament!
Boys and girls (divisions 16, 14 and 12 & under) from City
neighborhoods and as far away as Madrid, Spain, Puerto Rico,
Florida, and Texas compete in the only junior tournament held on
red clay in all of western Pennsylvania. This USTA-sanctioned and
USTA-off iciated event is organized by the Frick Park Clay Court
Tennis Club, a community tennis association (CTA). ---
This open junior tournament accepts both City and non-City
residents and has no USTA or other ranking requirements. Entries
are open and players of all levels - novice to experienced junior
tournament players - are encouraged to enter. Large draws for each
event along with players from out of town ensure local players are
exposed to a great variety of other players. To make the most of
their tournament experience, relative novices are encouraged to
participate in the Junior Mini-Camp (ages 10-16) at Frick Park the
previous week. ---
All Main Draw first round match losers are entered into a Full
Consolation Draw. Main Draw singles matches are best 2 out of 3
tiebreak sets and are held Monday to Friday, all day, 8 a.m. to
dusk, with Main Draw Singles Finals on Saturday at 12:00PM Noon to
be followed by all Singles Consolation Draws. All doubles are
scheduled for Friday, 8 a.m. - dusk. Doubles events are Round
Robin. Sunday is reserved as a rainday if needed. All schedules
subject to change and weather permitting - match schedules posted
online at tournament website. ---
Sponsored by Frick Park Clay Court Tennis Club, Dollar Bank, PNC,
USTA Middle States, K&L Gates LLP, Pittsburgh Tennis League
(PTL), Babolat and Gamma Sports. Frick Park red clay courts are
maintained the non-profit Frick Park Clay Court Tennis Club.
Proceeds from this tournament are to be invested in ongoing
improvements to this unique and historic tennis facility in the
city of Pittsburgh. Vamos!
