SCHEDULING CONFLICTS & DAYS OF PLAY
This tournament is played in 3 days and WE DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS regarding
scheduling times. ALL PLAYERS ENTERING THIS TOURNAMENT MUST PLAY ACCORDING TO
OUR SCHEDULE AND NEED TO LEAVE ALL THREE DAYS FREE (FROM 12 NOON ON FRIDAY TO THE
CONCLUSION OF THE TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY). The scheduling of matches and dates played is predicated on
the number of players in the event, and until entries close we cannot determine
when matches will be held (read below for an estimate). The largest draws will most likely start
first with some draws having the potential of two matches played in one day
(draws with more than 16 players or teams). Below is a likely scheduling
planner based on the number of participants in their event: 17-32 players -
Number of rounds = 5. 1st & 2nd rounds will be played on Friday, July 26 (draws of this size will most likely have two rounds of play on Friday with matches
starting early). With 9-16 players - Number of rounds = 4. 1st round of play will start on Friday, July 26 and possibly the second round as well.
Divisions with 5-8 players – Number of rounds = 3. 1st round of play will begin on July 26 or 27. Divisions with 3-4 players - Number of rounds = 2 will start of July 27 or July 28. All Finals and a number of semi final matches will be held
on Sunday, July 28 (barring rain). The actual days of play may or may not be reflected by the provided example.

NO SPLITTING DIVISIONS IN NTRP OR OPEN EVENTS
This tournament DOES NOT ALLOW PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE IN TWO DIFFERENT DIVISIONS. If you ignore this and enter two different divisions, you will receive notification telling you to withdraw and re-enter in the correct division. You will not be reimbursed for online fees so please follow directions. If entries have closed, and the player(s) have not corrected their split divisions (two different NTRP levels or one open and one NTRP event), the tournament committee will move you into the higher division along with your partner(s).
|
WITHDRAWING OR MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR ENTRY (Prior to Registration Closing - 7/14/19)
If entries have not yet closed, a player may
withdraw or make changes to their entry by going to the tournament's USTA
TennisLink Home Page - the page above. Once in the system, go to the "Edit
Registration" on the right hand side of the screen. Select the option that
you wish to perform (withdraw, change partner, etc.) You will need your
confirmation number from your original registration to withdraw. Once you
withdraw, you can re-register if you wish to change your event(s) or
partner(s). If you cannot locate your confirmation number, you will need to
contact linkteam@usta.com or the tournament director. ENTRY FEES WILL NOT BE
REFUNDED AFTER ENTRIES CLOSE, OR DUE TO RAIN. We recommend that an
alternate be substituted in place of a doubles partner if someone cannot attend. Please
note that any substitution(s) must be cleared by the tournament director if the
seeding has been completed.

NTRP PARTICIPANTS LIMITED TO TWO EVENTS (One Singles and One Doubles only)
Due to the Michael Chang Tennis Classic being a
one weekend tournament (2 and 3/4 days), all NTRP participants are limited to playing ONE SINGLES AND ONE DOUBLES event (IN THE SAME DIVISION). Open players HAVE THE OPTION TO ENTER TWO DOUBLES EVENTS (Open men's and Open mixed or Open women's and Open mixed). THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS will only allow players to register for one doubles event. To override this, open players will need to contact Brad at 949-831-6691 or Rebecca at 949-858-7300 directly. Open players need to have their USTA number, partner's USTA number and credit card available when calling.
|
NTRP RATINGS FOR PARTICIPATION - NO SPLIT DIVISIONS ALLOWED
Players cannot play below their USTA NTRP
rating. If a player does not have a USTA rating, they must play at or above
their club rating. All ratings are subject to verification! Non-disclosure or
false information regarding a player’s rating will result in disqualification
and forfeiture of entry fee at any time during the tournament. The rating
Committee reserves the right to reclassify or disqualify any player or team,
regardless of their club rating, or SELF USTA NTRP rating if determined to be
overqualified for the division they enter (even during the tournament).
Classification of the stronger player will determine the classification of a
doubles team. NTRP events are open to players 19 years or older. Junior players
18 years and under must participate in the Open division. PLEASE REVIEW THE
NTRP REFERENCE TABLE - GUIDELINES WILL BE FOLLOWED ACCORDING TO PLAYER
EXPERIENCE ESPECIALLY FOR COLLEGIATE PLAYERS WITHOUT AN NTRP RATING. PLEASE

SCTA Regulations Regarding Overlapping Tournament Entries
The USTA SoCal office discourages players entering in overlapping tournaments. Players need to get permission from both events prior to entry. This tournament does not grant permission under normal circumstances.
|
MATCH FORMAT & SCORING
All matches played will be 2 out of 3 tiebreak
sets with a match tiebreak (10 points) in lieu of third set. In the case of a set or match tiebreak, players shall change ends after every 6 points played. The Finals will be 2
out of 3 sets, with a 2 minute break between the 2nd and 3rd sets (NO 10 minute break). The tournament committee reserves the right to modify scoring,
such as no-ad scoring, or event format at their discretion.
|
SEEDING
For seeding purposes, we view UTR's as a formula to help determine standings since many players are from outside the section. Therefore, the seeding committee will use Universal Tennis Ratings (UTR) in combination with "All Factors Method" to determine seeds.
|
OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT BALL
The Dunlop ATP Championship ball will be used for the Adult NTRP & Open divisions
|
