USTA RULESandREGULATIONS:
The Rules of Tennis, USTA Standards of Conduct and USTA Standing
Orders, and all other USTA and USTA Southern Rules and Regulations
shall be observed in all sanctioned program activities and
tournaments of USTA Southern.
a. Proper behavior and good sportsmanship is expected from every
player. If a player is accompanied by a parent, coach, friend or
any other person, the same standard of conduct is expected of
them.
ii. Any unacceptable conduct or unsportsmanlike behavior shall be
brought to the attention of the Referee, event committee,
designated USTA Southern official or representative and shall be
investigated. Upon verification, the player and/or spectator so
involved shall be given one warning. If there is a second offense,
the offender shall be defaulted if a player and removed from the
premises if a spectator.
iv. All players shall be limited to three (3) events in any single
tournament. No player shall be forced to play more than two (2)
singles matches in one day unless inclement weather forces doubling
up on matches or if short scoring is used. If short scoring
is used, three (3) or more singles matches may be scheduled per
day. If, due to rain or other unforeseen circumstances, a player's
presence in any event other than his/her age group is causing
delay, that player may be defaulted from that division.
Please arrive 25-30 minutes before your scheduled match time to
account for locating the facility and walking to the tournament
desk.
LEVEL 6 TOURNAMENTS (SATELLITE) This type of tournament is
for players who are getting started in regular junior tournament
competition. SCTA Level 6 junior tournaments are counted towards
junior open rankings. These rules do not apply to the 10s
divisions. Listed below are the eligibility requirements for Level
6 tournaments.
A player ranked in the top 100 (18s-12s only) on the standings list
at the entry deadline is not eligible for Level 6 play in that age
division. They may choose to play in a Level 6 tournament in an
older age division provided they are not ranked in the top 100 of
that division.
A junior player who has difficulty competing in Level 5 (open)
junior tournaments may petition to the SCTA Junior Satellite
Committee to return to Level 6 tournament play. Please email
Takamori@scta.usta.com.
A Level 6 tournament (the satellite level) is a progression level.
The SCTA Junior Competition Committee HIGHLY recommends the
following:
If you have won three (3) Level 6 (satellite) tournaments by
winning three (3) or more matches within those tournaments, you
should:
Play Level 5 tournaments in the same age division.
OR
Play Level 6 tournaments in the next highest age division.
Final Note: Round Robins are better for players looking for
points and more match play. If you like to know more about the
point system and the benefits of the round robin please see the
tournament director at the tournament: John Sangvera.
