**********NEW SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE & NOTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1-19-19 AT 6:11AM*******
SATURDAY MORNING
UPDATE 6:30AM
EVERYTHING IS ON
SCHEDULE & AT THE SATELITE SITE IN TUPELO (LOOK FOR BIG WHITE BUBBLE)
We
have partnered with Tupelo in order to have this great level 1 event in case of
bad weather & we are guests at their facility. Please be respectful &
courteous to their facility & this only indoor bubble in the entire state. The space is limited & just a few rules
for spectators please. Must be in front of the baseline within the court
area between baseline & net. This may be hard to explain but I will
show everyone.
As a tournament player
& parent I try hard to schedule matches with little or no wait time but
some things are out of our control & being guests at this facility we may
have to wait on a court every once in a while.
Warm Up Saturday Morning – PLAYERS MAY WARM UP UNTIL
7:50AM THEN 8AM MATCHES MUST CHECK IN.
SCORING! – I KNOW SOME TOURNAMENTS HAVE DIFFERENT
SCORING RULES BUT THIS SCORING FORMAT FOR LEVEL 1 IS THE SAME FOR ALL 3 LEVEL 1
TOURNAMENTS GOING ON THIS WEEKEND & SET BY SOUTHERN TA
ALL SINGLES &
DOUBLES ARE NO AD SCORING
DOUBLES – 1 SET TO 6
WITH SET TIE BREAK TO 7 AT 5-5 (THE SCORE WOULD BE 6-5. THIS IS A LITTLE
DIFFERENT SO PLEASE EXPLAIN TO YOUR PLAYERS) ***NO AD SCORING***
MOST TOURNAMENTS ARE
SINGLE ELIMINATION FOR DOUBLES BUT WE WILL HAVE A CONSOLATION & GET THEM
AS MANY MATCHES AS POSSIBLE!
SINGLES - Best of 3
short sets to 4 win by 2, set tiebreaker TO 7 at 4-4
Set tiebreak to 7 in
lieu of the 3rd set
We will try to have at
least 2 referees\court monitors for 4 courts to help everything run smoothly.
Last
year we had the same situation & had to move into the bubble & everyone
had a great time & many of our young kids had never played in a bubble. It was a neat experience for them. Let’s have
another awesome event & super fortunate we do not have to sit around &
watch the rain like many us have done many times all over the south. Look forward to meeting everyone today.

Tournament Notes
Welcome to the USTA Southern Winter Level 1 Championships (10 and Under WEST Region). This tournament is a “Pilot” - which means that the
Junior Competitive Committee is testing this before introducing it as a
permanent tournament on the Southern Schedule. Players will still receive Level
1 points. The top 32 boys and the top 32 girls based on the 10U Southern section rankings will be selected for this tournament. Only players from Arkansas, Mississippi, or Louisiana can enter.
Schedule *Tournament will start on Saturday. We will start with a doubles match and then go into singles after. **( WE WILL FINISH ON SUNDAY IF POSSIBLE )** *Because singles and doubles are a compass draw, all players will be guaranteed 3 singles and 3 doubles matches.
Format (Reminder this is a Southern rule & all other L1s will be the same) *Because singles and doubles are a compass draw, all players will be guaranteed 3 singles and 3 doubles matches. Singles: 2 sets to 4 No-Ad. Set tiebreaks will go to 7 (win by 2) if the set score gets to 4 all. 7-point match tiebreak if players split sets.
Doubles: 1 set to 6 No-Ad All players must play doubles. Please text me your partner if you did not indicate them when you signed up. If you do not have a doubles partner, we will assign you one.
4-semifinalist. The 4 semifinalists will be invited to a USTA Southern High Performance Camp. The Southern Section will manage the camp and the invitations to the camp. This will be a great (and free) opportunity for the top 4 players from each tournament (East, Central, and West) to attend a camp together. Warm Up Courts ( NO COURT FEE ) 310 Golden Gate Avenue New Albany, Ms. 38652
In the event of Inclement weather we have satellite indoor courts which can be used in the event of rain or snow. However, this is a guarantee that the tournament will happen so you do not have to worry about cold and\or rain. Southern requires this to be an outdoor even unless there is inclement weather. There are only 5 courts in the bubble & will have to schedule around their events but last year everything worked out great. If any changes are made we will post as soon as as we get the information. At least we will not have to wait around and look at wet courts all weekend :)
All players must have a copy of a Birth Certificate or Green Card on file in the Southern office for proof of citizenship. This search function allows you to search our database to determine if we have a player's Birth Certificate or Green Card on record. If the search returns the player's name we DO have their certificate on record. If the search does not return the players name we DO NOT have their certificate on record. If you need to submit a birth certificate, you can fax it to 770-368-9091 or e-mail it to USTA Southern office. Reminder withdrawals must be done online before the deadline for a refund. Active.com\tennislink cannot refund after the online deadline. Entry fee will be forfeited after this deadline due to the purchase of tournament supplies & policy posted.

***FEEDBACK FROM PARENTS & PLAYERS
The New Albany/Tupelo Level 1 (10s) was our favorite tournament last year. Although the director had to literally battle through snow and ice to make it work, it was very well run and the matches were timely. The indoor facility was wonderful and was a great atmosphere for the children to play in. The director and staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to insure the players had a wonderful experience, including the group warm-ups that were a big hit. Beau Minvielle______ The level 1 hosted in New Albany/Tupelo was a great event and very well organized. The tournament director responded & communicated all information in a fast and effected way. They had fantastic awards & the indoor bubble was great. I recommend players and parents to try out this event/tournament. Thank you, Sierra James Hatiesburg, Ms
