Cahill Selected for 2019 Dunlop Scholarship
Congratulations to John Edward Cahill, the 2019 Dunlop Scholarship recipient. John Edward will graduate from Myrtle Beach High School next weekend and will attend The Citadel in the fall, where he will play varsity tennis. John Edward is a top student and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was his class representative on the Student Council where he also served as Vice-President. He was All-Region in tennis 7 straight years and his team won the 2019 State AAAA Championship. John Edward said in his essay: "Throughout my life tennis has been an incredible motivator, and the sport was always something I utilized to help me learn the many lesson of life, including joy, sadness, hard work and critical thinking."

Three Sportsmanship Awards Presented
The Palmetto Championships presented three sportsmanship awards Friday. Two awards were presented in the 12U divisions. The Matthew Strange Memorial Sportsmanship Award was presented to Liam Payne of Taylors and the Kimberly Hampton Memorial Sportsmanship Award was presented to Katie Godfree of Myrtle Beach. The Malloy Evans Memorial Sportsmanship Award was presented to Eleanor Campbell from Daniel Island who competed in the Girl's 18U.
Thank you to all Palmetto players for the excellent sportsmanship we saw during this year's tournament! Remember....GREAT SPORTS MAKE A SPORT GREAT!

All top 8 players please see Amanda Morelli under the trainers tent at BTC for your t-shirt for qualifying for Southern Closed! If you did not pick up your shirt the state coach will have it at the tournament. Note....all 10U t-shirts will be available at the 10U Southern Closed in Cayce.

The Chick-fil-A Palmetto Championships has been played in
Belton, S. C. since 1957 and is the South Carolina junior
qualifying tournament. Players must play in the Palmetto
Championships to advance to the Southern Closed Championships.
Championships are determined in 5 age divisions for both boys and
girls in singles and doubles. The Palmetto is closed to
residents of South Carolina only.

Sportsmanship Responsibilities: All parents are encouraged complete the "Parenting My Champion" sportsmanship video before their player participates in this level tournament.

Please be aware that this tournament is a 10U Youth Tennis
Progression event. This means that in order to play in the 10U division offered
you must be in the corresponding level. If you are not able to register for 10U
singles that means you are not eligible for that level of 10U. To find out more

Boys and Girls 10's Green Ball Divisions Boy's and Girl's 10's GREEN BALL divisions will be played on a 78' court using low compression green ball. Draw format will be determined by the number of participants. Scoring format as follows: 2 out of 3 short sets using NO AD scoring, first to 4 games (win by 2). A 7 point tiebreak is played if players reach 4 all. If players split sets then a 7 point tiebreak is played for the 3rd set (win by 2). THERE IS NO COACHING BETWEEN THE 2nd AND 3rd SET BREAK IN THE 10 & UNDER DIVISIONS. Doubles will be a 6 game pro set using NO AD scoring

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to specified residents only. Entries must be submitted by Friday, May 17, 2019 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
