A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!
The dust has settled, and I will cherish the stories from our humble courts at Shadow
Mountain Resort last week, our first effort at hosting the Wilson World Tennis Classic. This hidden tennis playground in south Palm Desert
has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues for the last few weeks and it was so nice sharing it with so
many great players from all over the globe. With the first time at a new club, we needed to make a good impression and although there are lots of things we can always improve, based upon feedback from players, I think we did it.
This year we had 670 players from 30 states and 5 countries. We've prided ourselves on creating an event experience second to none in the senior tournament world. We have witnessed some great tennis, made some great friends and have truly been honored to host this event.
We want to thank our major sponsors this year, Wilson, SportMaster Paint surfaces, Noblr Insurance, Comfort Air, James Macke with Blomgren & Blomgren, The Leaf on El Paseo, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Marker Broadcasting, Gold Ball Hunting, Solar Bat Performance Sunglasses and, of course, the National Senior Men's Tennis Association (NSMTA.net).
As this was our first event, I could not have done it without the assistance of our amazing volunteer staff, headed by Sheryl Hershman. She has done an incredible job organizing the volunteers and creating an efficient and player-friendly system. Thank you Sheryl for all of your hard work and dedication. I also want to thank Adam Jasick for running the desk with his loud boisterous voice keeping everyone in check and Rodee Pauz, the almighty scorekeeper for her attention to detail. Last, but not least, I can not thank Ed Trost enough. Ed, your patience and diligence in teaching me the 'ins and outs' of this world-class event has been inspiring. I am privileged to have such a great mentor. Thank you!
Obviously, the tournament is nothing without you, the players. The level of play over the years has continued to grow as has the participation. Thanks to all of you who have remained loyal to the tournament. We thank you so much for your support.
We wish all of you the very best of health and happiness over the next 12 months and look forward to seeing you at Shadow Mountain in January, 2021!
Cheers!
Caerwyn, and all the crew at Shadow Mountain.
